What do all these words mean? Common Terms:
Rope bottom – the person having rope put onto their body
Rope top – the person putting the rope onto someone else
Floor rope – rope done while the person is not suspended
Suspension – rope done with the goal of suspending the person in the air
Partial suspension – rope where the person is partially suspended, but part of their body is still touching the ground

Who attends London Kinbaku events?
London Kinbaku Studio attracts people of all genders, sexualities, bodies, ethnicities and skill levels who share an interest in rope bondage, fostering a safe and inclusive environment for learning and practice. You don’t need to have any special physical abilities or flexibility to tie or be tied up… you just need to want to do it.
Our events are LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, ND, body inclusive, accessible spaces for all to come together and be celebrated in a safe learning environment. You are welcome here!
What’s the difference between Rope Social and Open Floor?
During the Sunday Rope Socials, we have rope instruction for beginner and intermediate levels. The first 1-1.5 hours are dedicated to instructing and then the floor opens for use. You are welcome to join your desired level of instruction or begin tying as you’d like at any time in our designated open floor area.
During the open floor events on Tuesdays, there is no instruction. The space is yours to use safely and responsibly. You are welcome practice what you’ve been working on at home or skill share during, but there are no set instructions.
Where do events happen?
We host rope and kink events at a private warehouse studio in London, Ontario. London Kinbaku Studio is located on a London transit route but also has ample parking for your convenience. The address is given to attendees after registration has been completed, a confirmation email is sent out with more information and the exact location. The Location is not to be shared; only attendees will have the address.
Do I need to pre-register for events?
Yes, registration is needed prior to the event you want to attend. For your comfort, we want to stay within what we deem as a manageable capacity. After you’ve confirmed you have read our code of conduct, you will need to complete a Waiver at your first event, valid government issued ID will be required to confirm your age and legal name. Both are valid for the calendar years once completed you can join any events by simply sending an EMT to:

Registrations for biweekly events close by 4PM the day of the event, workshops, intensives, themed events, performances and rope jam registrations will be open until its sold out or an announcement is made, don’t wait to save your spot!
Do I need a tying partner to come with me?
For Open Floor, Intro to Rope, and Rope Social, you do not need to have a tying partner with you. For intensives and workshops, registrations are often done in pairs. Some events also allow for observer tickets, where you are not planning to tie and are coming to watch.
Do I need to bring my own rope?
Yes, if you have your own rope, please do bring it. We do have a small supply of POSH rope to lend during events or you can purchase POSH rope as well.
What should I wear?
Please wear whatever you feel comfortable in! Many people wear athletic clothing to tie or be tied in. Yoga style clothing, underwear, body suits, or simple t-shirts are all common.
We strongly discourage underwire bras, they are not recommended for chest harnesses because of the dangers of compression with wire on the chest and the dangers of it poking through.
Being topless is allowed at London Kinbaku events for artistic purposes only.

Are refreshments available?
Yes, refreshments are for sale by LondonRopeSocial/London Kinbaku. Non alcoholic beer and kombucha and other refreshments. Proceeds are used to cover space rental and equipment upgrades.
Also, you can bring your own snacks, water and non alcoholic beverages. Drinking containers must be spill proof.
Is smoking or vaping allowed?
Smoking and vaping is not permitted within the building. If you smoke or vape, please do so outside.
Please be responsible with your own cigarette butts.
Can I come and watch?
Yes! but only some intensives and workshops allow observers for a specified fee. This is meant for people who may want to take notes of lectures or skills being taught.
What if an issue arises at an event?
If you have any inconveniences at an event, please let us know as soon as possible. It is often easier to deal with an issue right away. If you are not comfortable with talking to us in person then, please email or use our Feedback Form at any time. We take all issues seriously, even the “little ones,” and believe in expecting and assisting with changed behavior.
