CLASS DESCRIPTION
Static and Dynamic Suspension
Take to the air in this class on static and dynamic suspension! This class focuses on transitions in suspension, as a way to not only create beautiful shapes, but to problem solve and increase the length of your suspension scenes. But don’t worry! For students not quite ready to do transitions just yet, you can pick a pose and do this as a static suspension too!
We will do a very quick refresher of the harnesses taught in the Harness Mechanics class but we recommend you take both for the best understanding and experience. Then we play in a way that makes you question the rules of gravity!
Requirements:
- This class is recommended as a partnered class, but can be attended as an observer
- Shared understanding of each other’s boundaries
- Shared understanding of basic nerve and safety information for rope bondage
- Bring a blunt edged cutting tool
People tying:
- 6+ ropes for the body
- 3 upline ropes, 7-8m long, ideally weight rated
- Have taken the harness mechanics class, or know how to tie a sustainable upper and lower body tie
- Upline management skills required
- Some experience with suspension required (at least partials)
People being tied:
- Be able to communicate effectively to your tying partner under stress
- Have an understanding of painful vs dangerous rope
- Have a nerve checking system
- Some experience with suspension required (at least partials)
INSTRUCTORS
@kindredties
Kindred is a queer rope switch who’s been practicing bondage since 2016. They enjoy both the technical and connective sides of rope, and attribute much of their growth with rope bondage to their teachers Barkas and Addie and their tying partners.
As a rigger, they combine technical precision, fluidity of movement, and focused observation to tie in a way that centers the emotional experience of the people in their rope. Drawing inspiration from martial arts, psychology and art, they incorporate knowledge from these and related fields into their lessons and practice.
As a teacher, Kindred is non-dogmatic and adaptive. Rather than adhering strictly to any style of tying, they provide students with the skills to pursue any avenues of curiosity. Their training in trauma informed practice and non violent crisis intervention carries through to their teaching and practice, facilitating an environment where people can feel safe to express vulnerabilities and emotions.

@KristieTheKitten
Kristie has been drawn to kink for as long as she can remember, and has been exploring and diving deep into rope bondage since early 2024. She is fascinated by the delicate balance between beauty and pain, connection and suffering. While teaching with Kindred, Kristie discovered a passion for bottoming education; emphasizing communication, safety, and the depth of connection that rope can create. She has taught a range of classes, from connection to dynamic suspension, and has shared her love of rope through performances alongside Kindred.
