ABOUT PEDRO
Pedro’s journey into the world of Japanese Rope Bondage began under the influence of the acclaimed Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, in 1995. While pursuing Fine Arts in Painting at the University of Lisbon, his fascination with eroticism, sexuality, and BDSM led to the emergence of these as central themes in his artistic endeavors.
The spark of interest in rope ignited when Pedro stumbled upon Akechi Denki’s bondage videos during a visit to Tokyo in 2002. With an insatiable curiosity and an unwavering dedication, Pedro commenced his studies under Osada Steve in late 2003, initiating a series of extensive learning expeditions to Japan that would unfold over the years.
Over years of immersive exploration, Pedro had the privilege of apprenticing under many revered rope artists in Japan. First-generation Grandmasters like Akechi Denki, Yukimura Haruki, Nureki Chimuo, and Sugiura Norio had direct influence on his rope journey. Additionally, connecting with second-generation Masters such as Naka Akira, Miura Takumi, Nawashi Kanna, Kazami Ranki, and Hajime Kinoko further expanded his understanding, offering a diverse perspective on Japanese Rope Bondage. All these rope artists significantly influence Pedro’s journey with rope, but it is Akechi Denki whom Pedro holds closest to his heart and for whom he feels the utmost gratitude to this day. Rather than adhering to a singular path, Pedro carved his own unique style, an ever-evolving fusion of techniques and creativity. His style continues to expand, accompanying Pedro’s personal growth, alongside the influence he receives from all contemporary rope artists all around the world.
Pedro’s expertise transcends borders, spanning across Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania, with constant attention to cultural specificities and social changes. Pedro’s teaching methodology mirrors his diverse background, adapting lessons to accommodate individuals of all skill levels, fostering an environment where beginners and experts thrive. Emphasizing understanding the thought processes behind the practice, as well as the need to adapt the rope to the person who is being tied, Pedro’s teaching transcend conventional lessons, offering immersive experiences which ignite creativity, thorough understanding and expertise. Awareness of safety, inclusion and consent are ever-present in both his personal practice as in his teaching.
Although Pedro’s interest in Rope came from a place of artistic creativity very early on on his journey it became part of his personal intimate practices and explorations. It was through Rope that Pedro was introduced to the Kink/Fetish/BDSM universe that are part of his life till this day. Being part of the lifestyle allows Pedro to experience first hand the practice of Rope in its original setting. Practicing rope is much more than just putting rope on someone, is about communication and connection.
